$150 - $225 for 60 mins (in person or telehealth)
Some types of sessions can be more effective with a longer timeframe. EMDR, family group, or critical issue sessions may fit this need and are discussed and agreed to as needed. General cost range for longer sessions is typically:
$225 - $300 for 90 mins
My goal as a therapist is to balance affordability for clients with differing abilities to pay a full private fee. At the same time, I want my practice to support and align with my needs and values: a sustainable practice, professional ethics, and my personal values of creating more financial accessibility, social justice and equity. If you are juggling costs to attend therapy, you are increasing your stress levels, which can be counter-productive to clinical outcomes.
Affordable rate is identified initially by you, through reflecting honestly on your specific expenses and life situation, and making a commitment to pay within the range of a full fee range. I use an adjustable scale of financial need, starting at $150 for a 60 minute session. This scale is negotiated, and is not the same as a “sliding scale” which is a specific amount assigned to provable income. I expect (and trust) that those who can afford to pay closer to the high range of my fee will do so. For clients with a very high financial need, I maintain a few openings on www.openpathcollective.com.
However we mutually agree on cost, it is confirmed in consent documents before a first session. I reevaluate my fees for all clients within 6 months to a year of date of start.
